Norma E. Kottenbrock, 99, died at 2:45 p.m. Oct. 24, 2008, at The Meadows of Ottawa-Glandorf. She was born July 21, 1909, in Ottawa to August and Catherine Kruse Krieger, who preceded her in death. On Oct. 1, 1935, she married Clarence Kottenbrock, who preceded her in death.

Mrs. Kottenbrock was a homemaker and a farm wife. She was a member of SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Ottawa, and its Altar Rosary Society, Glandorf Catholic Ladies of Columbia. She was a charter member of Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 2234 Auxiliary, Ottawa. She worked hard and laughed often. She enjoyed playing cards, telling jokes, polka music and dancing. She loved her family.

Survivors include a son, Ronald (Kate) Kottenbrock, of Glandorf; a daughter, Gloria Marlatt, of Wauseon; nine grandchildren, Cynthia Marlatt, Cathleen Marlatt, Christopher (Jessica) Marlatt, Kenneth (Kelly) Kottenbrock, Andrew (Mary) Brickner, Susan (Cory) Williams, Judy (Jared) Balbaugh, Lisa (Justin) Wilt and Diane Kottenbrock; and nine great-grandchildren, Kenzi Kottenbrock, Kayla, Megan and Hannah Brickner, Alexis, Kirsten and Jacob Williams, Bethany Balbaugh and Hailey Wilt.

George J. Schulien
George J. Schulien, 84, of Lafayette, Ind., died Wednesday morning in the Indiana Knights of Pythias Home Hospital after an illness of two years. He was born Oct. 28, 1885 in Ottoville, a son of Nicholas and Maria Schulien. He married Agnes Doepker in 1923 and she died in 1930. Surviving is a nephew, Harold Scherjer of Huntington, Ind. He was a member of Ottawa Eagles Lodge.
Services will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday in Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ottawa, with Rev. Florian Hartke officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call at Fischer-McCrate Funeral Home, Ottawa, after 4 p.m. Friday. Eagles Lodge services will beheld at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
